Great teacher of teachers
in all sciences of physical education, sport training and adjuvant
training.He was born in 1945 and since he was 6 years old to
the youth practiced and competed in athletics, basketball and soccer
(Ademar's club and teams). After, he was specialized in athletics of
highly level, compiting in 100 m., 200 m. and 400 m. hurdles as
athlete of the Sports Union Salamanca and of the University of
Madrid (junior champion of Spain in 200 m. and bronze medal in 400
m. hurdles in the Spanish university championships). During the
years of university studies in the INEF (university of human
movement science) of Madrid practiced and competed in all kind of
sports, pointing out the athletics and the duel and combat sports.
Professor Francisco Seirul·lo
Vargas is Physical Education graduate and National Coach of Athletics.
After working as a Techinical Director of the Physical Education
Services in the University of Salamanca, he has mainly developed his teaching activities in the INEFC of Barcelona,
where he has been Director and chief of the graduate studies in two occasions. As
a chief of graduate studies and head of the Physical Education department
has been responsible for the development of the main programs of Fundamentals
of Human Movement, Theory and Practice of Physical Education, Theory
and Practice of Sport Training, and Initiation-Development Processes of
Human Movement and Sports as an specific learning.
He has been professor of different subjects
in the Movement Science University of Barcelona (INEFC) and has collaborated with various professors by teaching special advanced programs on
basketball, handball, soccer, volleyball, rugby and athletics. He
taught diverse Postgraduate and Doctorate courses. Likewise, he
has been professor at the Master of Sports High Performance of the
Spanish Olympic Committee and at the Professional School of Medicine
of Physical Education and Sport. Besides, he was professor at the
coach courses of the National Federations of athletics (10 years), handball,
basketball, volleyball, judo and tennis.
For more than 30 years, professor Francisco
Seirul-lo Vargas has applied his theories into practice as a coach
of the Spanish athletics (responsible of Jump athletes during an
Olympic cicle), handball and judo teams in several World Championships
and the Olympic Games of Montreal (Judo). He also trained tennis
players for the international professional circuit and for the
Barcelona Olympic Games. On the other hand, he has coached high level boxers and cyclists. During the decades of the 80
and 90 he was physical conditioning coach / technical-tactical advisor
of the F.C. Barcelona handball team and he built together with the
coach Valero Rivera –student of professor Seirul-lo- all the training
structure that permitted this team to obtain the best international
results that a sports team has never obtained in all the history.
Also, he has been physical conditioning coach and advisor coach
of the soccer and handball junior teams of the club. Since 1994,
he is the physical conditioning coach of the first soccer team of
the F.C. Barcelona and Director of the Technical Commission responsible
for the physical conditioning preparation of all the professional
sport teams of the club. In the field of soccer he has worked with
coaches such as Luís Aragonés,
Johan
Cruyff, Bobby Robson, Carles Rexach, Llorenç Serra Ferrer, Louis van
Gaal, Radomir Antic and Frank Rijkaar. With the Barcelona Handball
team he has obtained 8 leagues, 6 cups of the King, 3 re-cupes of
Europe, 3 European cups, and 1 super-cup of Europe. With the
Barcelona Soccer team has obtained 5 leagues, 2 cups of the King, 4
super-cupes of Spain, 1 super-cup of Europe, 2 re-cupes of Europe
and 1 European cup. Physical conditioning coach of the Spanish
handball team in the World Handball Championship 2009, Croatia. In
May of 2006 became the unique coach in obtaining an historical
double: to win the European Cup in football and handball. An in May
2009 achieved an historical triple win with the F.C. Barcelona
football team: League, King's Cup and UEFA Champions League Trophy.
Likewise
he has outstanding experiences in the field of physical
education and of the sports initiation.
Thus,
by the decade of the 80,
he was the responsible of a
detailed study and exchange with the best European schools of sport
initiation (basics of the disappeared D.D.R.German Democratic
Republic, complemented with applications of the schools from Russia,
France and Italy), in order to elaborate a thorough summary that
would allow coordinate and participate in the creation and practical
development of the C.I.D. Centers of Sport Initiation which
were a very prestigious international reference.
In
the field of the adjuvant training, already from his beginning
into track and field, he has integrated knowledge of medicine,
movement rehabilitation, movement education and sport training in
order to solve exceptionally and efficiently the injures of many
athletes. As an significant example of adjuvant training we
emphasize the excellent work of prevention and recovery of injuries
that interdisciplinary developed with the medical and technical
group of the FC Barcelona handball team during more than one decade.
Besides, since then, he has advised, always with his characteristic
mastery and efficacy, to many other coaches and conditioning coaches
in solving injury prevention situations and the injuries of the
athletes they train.
Professor Seirul-lo has given more than 50
courses in different Spanish cities, as well as in other countries
as Portugal, France and Italy. He was founder and director of a Sports
Training magazine and a Physical Education magazine. He has published
numerous articles in review journals, books for the National School
of Athletics Coaches and for the Master of Sports High Performance;
as well as diverse documents for the magazine “Pedagogical Technical
Notebooks” (INEF-GALICIA).
From the middle of the 80, he is developing a new theory of training
for team and interaction sports, based on the dynamic systems theory, that has been
contrasted and applied to his training experiences with high level
athletes.
He is often invited as a lecturer in international congresses and in the university he teaches several advanced courses on physical education, sports training and adjuvant training.
On May 27, 2008 Professor Seirul·lo was
honoured with the Medal of the Royal Order of Sports Mention by the
Superior Council of Sports, in recognition of his contribution to
the development of sport.
Nowadays, besides his professional activity
in the F.C.Barcelona, in the Movement Science Institute (Barcelona
University) and as professor director of the Master on High
Performance in Team Sports, he is also a scientific advisor of the International
Sport Training Services EEB-Entrenament Esportiu Barcelona.
His extraordinary passion and love for the
science of the human movement, in addition to his humility of wise,
makes that the profesor Paco Seirul·lo always shows an espcial
predisposition to help and to assess his students and former-students.
